All of the trails near my house are either closed or unrideable (because of mud) but the cool thing about riding a Mukluk is that you can find trail anywhere! Today I was riding sandy doubletrack next to a rail trail and having fun...
It was tempting to stay out all day but today was a rest day and I definitely needed it. I didn't get a ton of volume in this week but had a lot of long days at work and a few harder sessions on the trainer late at night. As a result I'm pretty tired.I need a quick recovery because tomorrow I'm doing a 5-mile trail race. Wow...two running races in two weeks. I almost seem like a runner-minus the lack of training :-) I DO like trail running though, so this should be fun. The race is down at Yankee so I'm meeting my friend Roxane at 7 a.m. and then we are going to drive down together.
I don't think tomorrow is going to be as warm as today, but temps should be in the 30's for the race. I have no clue what condition the trail will be like, but there could be some muddy sections. I just have to keep reminding myself that the faster I get done the faster I can get home and on my bike. I'd like to say that I learned my lesson from last week and won't go out as hard, but it's doubtful.
Hopefully I don't fall on my face. With my lack of coordination there is a very good chance that it could happen :-)
