Speed Racer

Introducing....Racer-X

I love this bike!!!!

It's been about a month since I started riding with Rotor Rings, and I liked them so much that I ended up getting the crankset. I could tell a difference the moment that I started using them, and anyone who tries them notices that there is no "dead spot" while pedaling. They are awesome for climbing.

I raced with these grips on my SS last year for short races and loved them. They are super comfortable and I am interested in finding out how they feel in longer races. However...I really need to put some black ones on asap. I'm not digging the green grip/red frame combo.

After its first ride...

I just realized that I totally suck at taking pictures. I don't have a picture of the complete bike. Oh well, you get the general idea of what it looks like.

The bike is completely different from anything that I have ever ridden...in a very, very good way. I'm still playing with the full suspension settings, and I've heard that it can take up to a month to get it completely dialed. Even so...the bike is an amazing ride.

I have to admit that I was worried about how a Full Suspension bike would climb compared to a Hard Tail. My worries were completely unfounded though. In fact, I found that I could sit and pedal over roots and rocks that I would normally need to stand and pedal over. The bike is definitely more forgiving, and going down hills is a whole new experience. It's such a good feeling to be able to fly down hills and hit rocks, roots, and bumps-and not feel a thing. I was smiling the whole time. The bike corners really well too, and I feel like I have a lot more control on the gnarly stuff.

Again, I love this bike :-)

There's no way that I can give up the hard tail completely though, because that bike is so freaking cool. And what can I say? I'm a sucker for cool bikes. It's the perfect bike for xc racing, and I plan on doing as many local ones as I can for training. Now I just need to figure out my race schedule!

I told you that you would like the Rotors. I dig mine. They make climbing easier and look great too.

Looks like a sweet setup. If you are looking for a super slow recovery ride, look for us on Wednesdays at Yankee starting next week!

Hey...fast people need to ride slow sometimes too!

I have to admit, I did love my Racer-x. It does all of the things you mentioned well.
Mine did not have the carbon rear triangle but the overall geometry and frame are the same.
How do you like the taller fork? That was something I did not like when I bought one for the Ripper. Maybe it's because I'm so short! :^)
Have fun riding your new toy!

Brian-

I love the Fork! I believe the Ripper is made for a 80 mm fork, so maybe having a taller one felt a little off.

Good luck if you are racing Yankee!!!
