Just another rainy/snowy Monday
The only good thing about this winter being so cold is that it made the past few days seem really warm. In fact, I went riding with my little sister this weekend and she actually exclaimed "it feels like summer!"
It was only 34 degrees.
The funny thing is that it DID feel like summer (kind of). I got some really good hours in this weekend, and all on the Titus. I rode for 3 hours on Saturday and 5 hours on Sunday, and Toni joined me for most of it. We had to ride on the road, because all of our trails are still covered in a lot of snow. It's too bad because I am dying to ride some more trail.
Here's Toni in her new team kit...

No wonder why it felt like summer to her...she had one thousand and one layers on!

Anyways, back to my bike. I'm slightly obsessed with it. The first time that I took it off road was in Arizona. It was awesome. At first, I almost felt out of control because the bike is SO light and super responsive. Within ten minutes I was passing Scott on a climb that he had to walk. The bike climbs like a mountain goat. Basically, I can't spend enough time on it.
BTW...the reason that Scott had to get off of his bike and walk was because he was riding a 1x9. He was really over geared. That's his story anyways :-)
Today is a recovery day, and all I have to do is an easy hour on the trainer. I don't mind staying inside today, since we are being pelted with some sort of snow/rain mix. Spinning will be good for my legs today because they are toast. An ice bath would probably have been a good idea for recovery after yesterday's workout...but there is no freaking way that I was about to sit in a tub of ice...in February...in Michigan. It would just make me bitter.
I ended up doing the exact opposite and took a hot, bubble bath. It was great, until I fell asleep. Luckily I woke up before I was completely under water.
Well, time to go walk my parents dog. They watch Naomi whenever we are gone so I owe them many, many dog walking hours when I am home!!!

it's too bad your trails are still snow covered. i think it may be an even sadder story that some of MY local trails are finally bone dry and i spent all weekend indoors being sick!! its a cruel, cruel world.

"It would just make me bitter."
I think you would also run the risk of it making you brittle...hehe

Does Toni have a blog? How come she's always throwing up her thumbs?
7:44 PM
Toni does not have a blog-she's too busy with homework. I think she's always throwing up her thumbs because she likes giving the "thumbs up" sign, but you never know. It could be a gang sign or something :-)
9:53 PM
I had to catch up on your blog. Talk about a white winter! Congrats on new team.
10:30 PM
We had the same little break of somewhat warm weather on the weekend. To bad it was short lived with -20 back for this week.
Aren't hardtails fun!!!!

You are nuts. I don't want to go off on a rant again like I did last year, but now your dragging Toni along too? Poor girl.
So she is a member of the Bissell squad this year again? That's great. Good luck Toni!
11:14 AM
I'm really envious of your dedication to ride when it's 34 degrees outside. Lack of dedication, maybe that's why I'm so slow????
My bike climbs like a mountain goat too! Wait, that's my car...
11:17 AM
Brian-Toni will be racing with the Bissell team as a Cat 3, and has been working out like crazy this winter. When she is racing at National junior events, she will be racing on the Priority Health U23 team. Wait until you see the team bike that she's getting. Ahhhhh...to be 17 and fast!
2:04 PM
Is she getting the Pinerello Prince that the big boys are riding? That is an awesome frame!
Lucky girl.
Go Toni Go!!!!
4:54 PM
How many layers is Toni wrapped up in? Did you make her wear the entire kit?
WHEN is winter going to go away?????
Riding outside once every fourth week or something isn't right.
Cool for you in July!
9:20 PM
Anne- winter is never going away. I'm convinced of it. It's so cold again tonight...I hate it!!!!!
Let me know when you want to start doing some rides again. Hopefully we'll be able to ride outside by May!
